& Lion Park

Situated on the foot of the Zwartkop Mountains, only 45
minutes away from Johannesburg, the park is home to three of the
Big 5. Enjoy a
relaxing game drive and view more than 20 species numbering over
600 animals in their natural habitat.
The terrain is ideal for lion, rhino, buffalo, crocodile
and many other species of antelope, making it a photographers
dream.
Enter the Lion’s Den; see the King of Beasts in his own
domain. Scores of
lion and their cubs can be seen in their natural habitat, with no
cages and no bars. You
can also have your pictures taken with a cub in the restaurant.
Other indigenous game includes Black Wildebeest, Blesbok,
Gemsbok, Impala, Ostrich, Red Hartebeest, Springbok and Zebra.

- Sterkfontein
& Wonder Caves
The Sterkfontein Caves were the site of the discovery of the
famous Mrs. Ples (Plesianthropus transvaalensis) by Dr.
Robert Broom. He
described the caves as the anthropological treasure house of the
world. They comprise
of a series of caverns with many stalactites and stalagmites as
well as a huge underground lake.
The Wonder Cave, some two billion years old, is one of the
most impressive of South Africa’s natural assets.
Known as South Africa’s Administrative Capital, all
government headquarters are situated here.
You can visit the Voortrekker Monument, the Union
Buildings, Strydom Square or the magnificent Jacaranda lined
parks.

The birthplace of Johannesburg, the “City of Gold”.
We go 226 meters below ground to see the wonder of this
precious metal which stirs the fire of the soul.
Travel back in time as you visit a replica of old time
Johannesburg, take a ride on a penny-farthing, or stroll through
the houses from that period in time.
The tour includes an underground visit, gold pour
demonstration and miner dancing performances.
Note: Children under 5 are not allowed underground.

Hartebeespoort
Dam is situated 80 kilometers from Afton Guest House.
There you can visit several flea markets. This trip makes
for a very nice relaxed outing for the day.

Nestled in the pristine bushveld at he foot of the
Magaliesberg Mountains, north of Johannesburg, lies Lesedi, where
families of the Zulu warrior nation, the proud Xhosa, the warm
hearted Pedi and the mountain dwelling Basotho, live in their
traditional homesteads.

This old mining town developed around the Premier Diamond
Mine where many of the turn-of-the-century houses still stand.
The mine has produced some of the world’s most famous
diamonds, including The Cullinan (3106 carats) and The Great Star
of Africa. Weighing
in at 530.20 carats, The Great Star of Africa was cut from the
Cullinan and was named after Sir Thomas Cullinan (chair of the
mining company), together with 104 other stones in 1908.
As the largest cut diamond ever, it adorns the scepter of
King EdwardVII and is kept in the Tower of London.

- Sun
City & The Lost City

In an extinct volcano crater adjoining the Pilanesberg
National Park and less than two hours drive from Johannesburg,
lays Sun City and the Lost City, South Africa’s answer to Las
Vegas. The complex is
enormous and is the venue for world class sporting and
entertainment events. The
world famous golf course is home to the annual Million Dollar
Challenge, the Sun City Superbowl is the venue for world class
entertainment superstars and the Casino complex is as good as can
be found anywhere in the world.
